Answers to the questions we hear most.

Yes — the practice operates within GESY, so you will need a referral from your GP (personal doctor) or a specialist. Both can issue one. If you are told a GP cannot refer to an interventional radiologist, the referral is written under diagnostic radiology, activity code CY258. Bring it along with any imaging or reports you already have.
Dr. Agathangelou reviews your history and any imaging, examines you, and explains whether an image-guided treatment suits your case — including its benefits, risks and alternatives. You leave with a clear plan, never an obligation.
The procedures are generally very well tolerated. Most are performed under local anaesthetic, often with light sedation — patients typically describe pressure or mild discomfort rather than pain, and what to expect is discussed openly before anything begins.
Most image-guided treatments are day procedures — after a short observation period you go home the same day. Where an overnight stay is advisable, you will know before you decide.
Yes — all the procedures described on this site are fully covered by GESY with a valid referral. The procedure is done as an inpatient admission and costs you nothing. The outpatient visit may carry a small co-payment (€0–10). For private insurance we provide the documentation your insurer needs, and you will receive a clear cost estimate at your consultation.
