It is the concern that often goes unsaid, and it is a fair one. The patient you send comes back to you. You receive a written report with the findings, the procedure performed and the follow-up plan; we do not take over their general care, and we do not refer onward without your knowledge. If the right answer is not an interventional one, we will say so — to you and to the patient.

You do not need certainty to call. The most frequent discussions are fibroids with heavy bleeding, an enlarged prostate in a man who wants to avoid transurethral surgery, thyroid nodules with pressure symptoms and benign cytology, symptomatic varicose veins, varicocele with pain or abnormal semen findings, chronic spinal pain, and oncology cases where local treatment is being considered.

A short conversation before referring is often more useful than a full referral — it saves the patient an appointment that would lead nowhere.

A personal doctor can refer here, and so can a specialist. There is no separate interventional-radiology destination to look for: the referral is written under diagnostic radiology, activity code CY258.

Send whatever imaging already exists with it. An ultrasound or CT report is usually enough for me to say on the phone whether an appointment is worth the patient's time.
